Heat
like so many slaughtered pigs on an assembly line of death.
The heat ladened evenings choke the mind,
suppressing the mechanism that forms intelligent thought.
Drops of sweat sneak down the back
like newly hatched spiderlings racing away from a cannibalistic parent.
The only sound in the ears; the beating of a heart, the labored breath and an occasional baritone growl from what seemed to be an infinitely empty stomach.
The day trudges on like a defeated army slogging its way through thickening mud.

Compensation
Baby in a Drain Pipe
Completed
Heart Strings
90 year old Eyes
Bags
An impish wail
from toothless maw
cries of dreams
for future days
Mother's hope
And Father's dreams
bundled warmly
in cherished babe
built on ideals
babe grows into
infinite possibilities
Equation of life
changes on whims
of spastic ideas
made painfully real
Eventually all
becomes transparent
through the sheer skin
of plastic
For all the world
to see how
life is built
simply fragile
Simple projections in my Mind
Answer for an Angry Poet
So many points you connotate
So many views you proclamate
So much rage you expectorate
For this hate, you animate
Should your words be visionary?
Seems they’re just incendiary
Are you revolutionary?
Or just a reactionary?
So embittered and pugnacious
You’re lexis quite tenacious
Where peaceful tidings so gracious
Would be so much more audacious
By birth we’re just accidental
Some we’re made occidental
Others then are oriental
Dwell on why, you will go mental
Cherish then their identity
Do not enhance your bigotry
Be at peace deliberately
Look on all compassionately

The Sea is my Mother #2
The Sea is My Mother
One Day - American Haiku
Fourteen Hundred Minutes
Seventy Thousand Seconds
Seven Billion Minds
Imagine a Second Chance
To grasp a moment
Lost in Eternity
Failed Promises
She’s not Talking to Herself
My Love for Thee
To the sea, to the sea, we go dancing naked to the sea
In the waves, in the waves, we are dancing naked in the waves
Come with me, dance with me, we fill our lives with endless glee
Once we’re there, no despair, we choose to love spontaneously
To misbehave is not so grave, when it’s love that’s we both crave
To the sea, to the sea, we go dancing naked to the sea
I to thee, you to me, we pledge our love for eternity
Take my hand, toes in the sand, your love this heart has engraved
Come with me, dance with me, we fill our lives with endless glee
Our love is truth, the love of youth, no room for bitter savagery
That love you gave, for which I crave, for ere’ my heart it will enslave
To the sea, to the sea, we go dancing naked to the sea
If I were you and you were me, would we love so generously
You promise me, mine oath to thee, this love will be until the grave
Come with me, dance with me, we fill our lives with endless glee
As we grow old, our love more bold, we both close to eternity
I will engrave, a cross of stave, our epic love that us enslaved
To the sea, to the sea, we go dancing naked to the sea
Come with me, dance with me, we fill our lives with endless glee

Shadow
Of loss,
Or explain that dark
Shadow
On your soul
When a
Friend
Is no more?
How to reconcile
Death
When it is so
Hated, so
Close, so
Inevitable.
If you have the
Heart, the
Strentgth, the
Fortitude, then You
Write, a
Song, a
Sonnet, a
Eulogy that
Tells the world about that
Noble Spirit, that
Love of boundless
Joy,
Never Forlorn,
Always Forgiving;
Infinitely Unconditional.
You take that picture, that
Rememberance, a
Token, a
Memory.
Place it carefully,
Lovingly
Into bounded book
With these thoughts of
Love, these
Ideas of
Life, these
Passions.
And you store it safely away for
Future, the
Day, when the
Heart is
Mended, the
Soul is
Calm, the
Mind is
Peaceful. And
You
Remember

American Hero
this true red, white and blue American boy.
Like his father and grandfather before him,
he would grow to serve his country.
This true red, white and blue American boy
He went into the Navy to serve his country
Like his father and grandfather before him,
He would carry that service into war.
He went into the Navy to serve his country
His true character showed in how he helped his comrades
He would carry that service into war,
Staking life and limb to save another aviator on the U.S.S. Forrestal
His true character showed in how he helped his comrades
With bomb bursting and fires raging
Staking life and limb to save another aviator on the U.S.S. Forrestal
He was wounded in the legs and chest
With bomb bursting and fires raging
He was shot down as he flew over Hanoi
He was wounded in the legs and chest
He was beaten for serving his country
He was shot down as he flew over Hanoi
And he would suffer for it
He was beaten for serving his country
This made him an American Hero.
And he would suffer for it
Like his father and grandfather before him,
he would grow to serve his country
He was a War Hero you know.
Vane in the Wind
I Know You
I know You
I know You very well.
From Your conception
I have felt You grow.
Everything that I am
Has gone into making You.
Yet You do not know Me
But You will.
From the first time You feel Me
Under You
Supporting You
Nurturing You
You will come to know Me well.
I will always be there
In your life You may forget Me
But I will be there to remind You.
And when the time comes for You to move on
I will be there to
Carry You
Comfort You
Embrace You
I will take from You
What I gave to You
And from You
I will make Others
Like You
And I will know Them as
I know You
Tijuana
Dusty streets of orange and grays,
Strolling minstrels with floppy hats
Playing songs of rebel lovers.
Mangy curs in bristled stances
Posturing o'er sag bellied bitches
Patiently wetting their puppies.
Hobbled hawkers push wobbly carts
With cherished tender succulent
Tropical fruits on ragged sticks
Squeaky broken accordion
Grasped between gnarled fingers
Playing rakishly to deaf ears;
Shriveled orbs stare distantly
Begging for some recognition
In the shape of squandered pesos.
Colorful dresses swing in the breeze
On vivacious senoritas
Dancing to nationalized tunes,
While white clothed champions
Prance around tattered sombreros;
Feet sandaled in dusty contrast.
Oblivious tourists stroll on
Wiping sweat and dust off pale heads
While chugging from icy bottles,
Rapacious peddlers prey on
Soulless shoppers striving to deal
For wares priced below subsistence.
Ocean breezes pierce stifling heat
Bringing momentary reprieve
From beaded sweat on wrinkled brows.
Odorous dust swirls aimlessly
Through alleys beset by paucity
As ravens argue over scraps.
Clattering and clunky taxis
Belching blackened exhaust from
Broken and dragging tailpipes,
Driven by wild eyed cabbies
With time and money on their minds;
Not one concerned for kith or kin.
Overworked burros stand fixed;
Statues of bone and hair, gnawing
On worn bits of rusted iron.
Drooped heads shaded with ragged hats,
Burdened with overweight gringos
Smiling for faded photographs.
Smokey dimly lit cantinas
Choked with chubby senoritas
Flamboyantly flailing for drinks,
Strutting about selling it all
To lusty teens from bordered lands,
Protruding points of desire.
Sullen and unshaven rogues
Spying from shadowy corner seats
Manipulating shiny blades.
Drunken mariachis plucking
Tuneless instruments, broken strings
Dropping twangs like rotted tree fruit.
Muffled cheers waft over shanties
From excited crowds surveying
Emaciated muzzled hounds
As they streak down dusty raceways.
Graceful, sleek, slender long legged
Beasts racing for dubious spoils
Painted sun sets o'er horizon
Blazing orange upon blue seas
Streaked with foamy white and green.
Roasted smells of succulent meats
Acrid with the hint of chilies
Grown lovingly in tended dirt,
Brings rumbles of wanton yearnings
For belly filling rations and
Cookery that delights the tongue.
Whispering bottles of beer speak
As eager mouths slog down icy
Brews to relieve heated palates.
Brassy tunes dance over cool air
As tiny under lit candles
Dance a dueling tango, softly
Revealing secreted couples
To smiling eyes of aged hearts
That hold forever lost lovers.
Rising moonlight pierces shadows
Exposing tender moments of
Maternal embrace for kindred
Before ushering innocents
To mirth laden imaginings
Of whimsy flights to Neverland.
Cherished Daughters
Strands o’ sunshine weaved within her hair
Defiance show in crystal auburn stare
Alabaster satin wrap’d o’er graceful curve
Venus’ blessing with Diana’s nerve
Smile glorious as virgin pearl
Since from her mother born
Her care and life I am sworn
Cradled in this father’s arm
Ne’r will she come to harm
From paternal joy doth my head swirl
No other hath me as my blessed girl
Champion I will be for her eternally
At God’s behest I give mine life for free
Until there may arise a gentle boy
To her shall he commit mirth and joy
By my soul shall he suit her at every pass
And cherish no other as my blessed lass
When grown as woman she and pass to mother be
From nativity a child of grace yet equipotent as she
Upon this aged breast and arms of gentility
Will she lay her red-haired girl so tenderly
To tug upon wizened beard from red to grey has turned
Will this progeny whose hair by glorious sun has burned

You
I knew of You
Before You were You
I dreamt of You
Before You were You
I pondered You
Before You were You
I planned for You
Before You were You
I,
knew of You,
dreamt of You,
pondered You,
planned for You,
Before I knew,
That,
You were You
We needed You
Before You were You
We believed in You
Before You were You
We conceived of You
Before You were You
We nurtured You
Before You were You
We fell in love with You
Before, You were You
We,
needed You,
believed in You,
conceived of You,
nurtured You,
fell in love with You,
Before we knew
That,
You were You
And when We knew that
You were You
We applauded that
You were You
We lauded that
You were You
We were astounded that
You were You
So profoundly that
You were You
We,
Knew of You,
Applauded You,
Lauded You
Astounded with You
So profoundly that
You were You
And now that we know that
You are You
We will always revel that
You are You
We will always cherish that
You are You
And never disparage that
You are You
We bless each day that
You are You
In every way that
You are You
Tears of a Monster
Pain without affliction, Horror without monsters
Awake to the night terror of lost love and kin
Hell comes in sporadic bursts of insanity
Pain in the eyes of children I cast upon
Who wonder why love has gone from the arms and eyes of daddy
Striking at the nearest heart,Tender moments lost in rage
Cancer of hate eats the soul of a once kind man
From whence does this pain come?
The voice of love
From whence does this anger come?
The sorrow that love causes envelopes the heart
A love lost for an eternity
Hence to God a prayer I make, chance redemtion
To step upon the grave of my sire
Who loved to create, but failed to nurture
The source of the pain that made me the monster to kinder hearts
Now I bid to God to rectify my sin
Children's souls cleansed of my affliction
Brave them to be a greater thing than me
If forgiveness comes, None too soon I pray
I will drink it like a suckling child
Without fear, without care
Unconditional love that eludes even the wisest kin
I pass to the next life wondering if the demons will follow
Nights disturbed by restless awakenings, Pain of days long gone
Will forgiveness come from those assailed?
The sign of Christ embedded into my heart
A curse upon the God that made me, The womb that bore me, the breast that fed me
I stand in line with the other monsters
Those that made me, those I have made
We cast angry looks back and pleading looks forward
Can I forgiven those behind me?
Am I lost forever in the sin I cast upon those after me?
Why have I been blessed with this curse?
I am to blame, I failed to cease the demon
But the sin has not been passed to those I sired
For they are of stronger heart and soul, brave spirits
They see my sin and caste it aside,
They choose a better path for self
They are my saviors; God smiles on them and they release me from my pain
Sleep comes peacefully, dreams play like giggling children
I see them happy and their cherubs the same
I dream of father, forgiven and in peace, I feel God's hand touch my soul
Peter Pan Died Last Night
Once upon a time was a boy
With boundless and endless joy
A mischief maker of untold ploy
Enticing all to come and enjoy
Peter Pan has lost his joy
The treasures of childhood covered in dust
Trophies and Tonka's eaten by rust
Gone were the vices of childlike lust
Replaced by a soulless blackened crust
Peter Pan is an empty husk
Curled in fetal an old man weeps
Grieving the promises he can never keep
To offspring that time will sweep
Into endless oblivion of eternal sleep
Peter Pan lies in a heap
In screaming anguish in his bed he lay
Unable to recall what it was like to play
His once joyous heart lay flayed
Opened to life's eternal decay
Peter Pan doth fade away
Whimsical creatures of flickering light
Came streaming through my window last night
Looking for a boy of cheerful delight
Found only man of distressing spite
Peter Pan no longer takes flight
As night moves toward beauteous dawn
Creatures of mirth are bid to be gone
Toward laughter of children they'll drawn
Backs turned from withered brawn
Peter Pan is forever gone
The Aging Fleet of Half Moon Bay
Tis foggy morn deemed so forlorn,
From distance sounds a augur horn
Upon the water gray and green
Sit tattered vessels o' myth n' dream
Aqua chariots of blue and white
Sway to and fro in dimming light
Haggard be, not one shown bright
Seek caring reprieve from this their plight
Here La Boehme sings pleadingly
While Mischief near by fleeting be
Camelot upon the sea, does seize
Avalon's mist which drifts in breeze
Morning Star shines not these days
As Molly's Dog still sleeping lays
Sea chariots come nigh with aloft fanfare
Of sooty birds dancing for meager share
A sailor's pipe sparks in the night
Launching embers into swirling flight
A wizened soul, grizzled and gray
Bathes patiently his ship of day
Mezza Luna beckons him near
Delivering tankards of golden cheer
Barbara blast a rocky tune
While blackened night gives way to moon
As misty tendrils of salted air
Wrap round the masts with seeming yare
The parting flocks wish better day
To the aging fleet of Half Moon Bay
Ode to my Dead Kitty
My Pooty Tat
Know beyond a shadow of any doubt, that I can really say
That I could do totally without, this very mournful day
I awoke to rooster's crow, before the sun arose
To find my pretty puddy tat, laid out upon the rode
Though nature made him fully grown, had kitten's attitude he
Playful, whimsy, bouncy and fun, no better a mouser could be
Hunting by night, sleeping by day, be it indoors or out
I swear by these eyes I did see with three or four he'd bout
And fierce as any hunter could be, a softer side had he
Upon the caring breast he'd sleep, purring gleefully
My home he made his very own, he even pissed in my bed
On several occasions we would scrap, I nailed him in the head
When times life got to hard to take; the world looked lonesome and bleak
I'd recall his brother and he, in paper bag Hide n' Seek
In blade of grass he'd fined repast, he trimmed my lawn one time
And as though on cue, he, upon my porch, delivered balls of hairy slime
He scampered quick on spinning chair, clasp with claws, he'd go round
A spinning rug his tea cup ride, his bouts with brother renowned
No cat in life have I ever known to give more love and joy
I'll reminisce my Tigger as much as if he were my only boy
Restless
Invisible puppeteers viciously command
Legs wrapped in birds nest shackles
Choking off quivering muscles while
Pins and needles stab incessantly.
Head tosses back and forth
Aimlessly like a battered boat
On a torrential sea with no sails;
Cabin doors slamming in ghostly rhythm.
Faces in the ceiling bewitch the mind,
Demons and angels battle over dreamscape.
Infinite pupils seek shadowy dancers in periphery
Of eyes dusted with sleep; dry, scratched and tired.
Whispered steps on creaking floors,
The starting-gun for a racing heart
Propelling a restless soul into a
Contest of mind over mentality.
Images on drooping, quivering eyelids
Play like silent nickelodeons with
Ghostly angelic figures awash in light
Blurred like headlights in coastal fog.
Scattered dreams like broken puzzles
Chase faceless figures over characterless
Settings, hither and nigh, till
A leap of faith leaves body crumpled on bed.
Heartbeats echo against wired drums
Like muffled messages across a jungle expanse
A portent of insane charges by
Wild-eyed warriors intent on mayhem.
Claws on hardwood scratch the brain
Leading it into landscapes of
Rolling pillows beset by dream quakes;
Rumblings of a purring kitten sleeping.
Nerves set on edge by gutter tunes as
Watery nails pick at the glass followed
With torrents of noise spilling from
Clouds moving as fast as fleeting dreams.
Waves of numbing pain wash over extremities
Eager to dive into the slumber pool,
Instead crushed by icy sheets and choking covers
Pushing the senses closer to the edge of madness.
Chasing sleep like a baby elephant
Racing after the next game
The body lays eager but the psyche falters
Frightened of eternity, infinity; of Rest.
I miss her song
I miss her song,
Her joyful lilt
Saucy with lust.
Lyrics of love
And pain mused
By passion’s dreams.
Eyes shine as stars
In clear winter
Skies washed and chilled.
Bounteous breasts
Heave every word
To self express.
Laughs explode for
Words forgotten
Replaced by hums.
Giggles race forth
For thoughts of glee;
Her heart dances.
Whispering her
Words, she tickles
My ears sweetly
As skin rises
To meet her lips;
She lingers still.
Softened lyrics
Sooth hardened soul,
Lover’s caress
Keeps it alive
This emotion
Made up of You.
